It’s the 4th Thursday of the month:  YR time!

This month, we have important business to undertake: Electing our new club officers to lead the charge going forward.

Club Officer Positions:

1st Vice President
2nd Vice President

Other critical jobs to fill:
Social Media Director
Fundraising Events Coordinator

Nominations can be made from the floor. Candidates must be present. All current Young Republicans of Bexar County club members can vote in this election.

Next up:  A Lightning-Fast Election!

Our good friend Fred Rangel has filed as the only Republican running in the just-declared special election to fill the vacancy in Texas House District 125. Come meet him and hear his plans.

Early voting is Monday, January 28, 2019 – Friday, February 8, 2019
(Yes, that soon!)
Election Day is Tuesday, February 12, 2019

This is a big deal. Republicans do well in special elections if Republican voters get the word in time. Here’s a chance to make up for some of that ground lost in November–let’s mount up, and roll out!

Have Issues? Get Onto the Capitol Fast Track.

Thursday November 29, 2018 Event

Most of us have a few issues that we care strongly about. Here, among friends and good food, we are going to learn how to effectively advocate to the Texas legislature about the issues and bills we care about, getting ready for the legislative session opening in January. Get laws you care about into the passing lane.

6:30-8:30 PM

Become familiar with how the process works, how to find out when hearings for bills are scheduled, how to sign up to testify to a legislative committee as a witness (anyone can), look up who is sponsoring and who is opposing bills on your subject, and how to effectually weigh in on the topic. Professional lobbyists are not the only people who can influence legislative outcomes.

Rachel Malone, Texas Director of Gun Owners of America, is well versed in the process, and will teach us the little-known ins and outs of effective legislative advocacy.

This training is free to attend, Republicans of all ages are welcome, just buy your own food and drink from the menu.

*Please be sure to register:

At the end of the meeting, we will open up the floor for nominations for Young Republicans of Bexar County club officers for 2019.  Nominations can be made from the floor at this time, or by email through this website for the next month.  All Young Republicans members are eligible to be nominated.  Elections will be held at the next regular club meeting. All YRs who have been members of the club for at least three months are eligible to vote in the club election.

It’s time to step up to a leadership role!

Cruz vs. O’Rourke Debate Watch Party

This will be their last debate before the election. Join us to watch the live broadcast of our conservative United States Senator, the “unstumpable” orator extraordinaire, joust verbally with his liberal opponent, Robert Francis O’Rourke. It’ll be a fun, casual gathering to cheer and boo with Republican friends.
The party refreshments are sponsored by our friend Probate Court #1 Judge Kelly Cross!
